Recommended Equipment List

 

The staff of NorCal Ski Shuttle, Alpine Juniors, Snowdrifters and Winterset recommends the following equipment to help make the most of your days in the snow.


  • Skis/Snowboard - Correct length, with bindings adjusted for you by an authorized technician.
  • Ski brakes for skis.
  • Retention device for snowboards.
  • Boots - Properly fitted.
  • Poles - Proper length.
  • Waterproof Sun Block - #15 or higher.
  • Water resistant warm up pants or ski pants.
  • Thermal underwear - for added warmth on cold days.
  • Ski/Snowboard bag or straps - to protect and/or hold skis together during transport.
  • Duffel Bag/Knapsack - to keep your small things together.
  • Clothing and equipment identification. Many ski items look alike. Mark all your equipment with your name.Use masking tape with your name for ALL rental gear.
  • Sun Glasses - for sunny days. Note: Eye protection is mandatory on sunny days.
  • Ski/Board Lock - to secure your equipment when not skiing. Always lock your equipment!!
  • Wrist guards/stabilizers for snowboarders. These help reduce the risk of wrist injuries. Highly recommended!
  • Gloves or mittens - water resistant.*
  • Hat - warm, must cover ears.*
  • Face Mask or Scarf - protection from wind and snow.
    • Waterproof and windproof jacket.
    • Goggles - to use when it's snowing. (May also be used in place of sun glasses if equipped with dark lenses.)*

    * Mandatory for skiing in stormy weather!


    NOTE: Temperatures range from zero to forty degrees on winter days in the Sierra. The weather can change from sunny to blizzard in a matter of minutes! Make sure you are prepared for all weather.

    There is no such thing as bad weather , just inappropriate clothing !
